Recent Hunt Huge Success!
Posted in Uncategorized on November 29th, 2011 by adminWe recently made a trip to Stone Creek Hunting in Edgar Springs, Missouri for a Dream Hunt for a young man by the name of Taylor Lohmann. Upon arrival, we made sure that Taylor’s rifle was shooting correctly and then headed out to the blind for the afternoon. Due to the high winds, the deer were bedded and we only saw 3 doe right at last light.
The next morning the wind was still a factor and at around 9, those same 3 doe entered the field again. After watching them feed for about 20 minutes, Taylor said, “There’s two bucks.” Both were 8 pointers but one was a mature buck that was a little wider and he proved to be the dominant buck after watching the two spar off and on for the better part of 20 minutes. After Taylor had made the choice to take the mature buck, we had him practice putting the crosshairs on his shoulder to help steady his nerves. He was then given the green light once the buck had turned broadside and the shot rang out and the buck took a dirt nap!
We want to personally thank those that helped to make this a great hunt. We want to thank StormKloth II for the donation of the camouflage, Dennis Outdoors in Poplar Bluff Missouri for their donation of a rifle, scope, ammunition and gun case. We also want to thank Justin Hoffman at Stone Creek Hunting in Edgar Springs Missouri for hosting this hunt and their donation of the meals, lodging and processing.
On the way home, we stopped at the taxidermist to drop off Taylor’s deer to be mounted for him. We also want to personally thank Bobby Shipman at Full Draw Taxidermy in Dexter Missouri for his donation of the taxidermy work!
It takes alot of cooperation from many individuals to make these hunts a success. From Perry County Sportsman’s Club, who did the fundraiser, to the donation of camouflage, securing the location for the hunt, donation of the rifle and ammunition and taxidermy services once it was successful. Dream Pursuit is in need of monetary (cash) donations, inkind donations (goods and services), outfitters/guides and taxidermists to make these adventures become a reality. Should you wish to help us raise money, donate a hunting or fishing trip or contribute through taxidermy services, please contact us by the number list in the “contact us” tab of our website. Thanks for reading and God Bless!
